Tradition of the Church says Jesus Christ appeared to a German nun and mystic, St. Gertrude, telling her that every time she recited this prayer, the suffering of souls in purgatory would be eased. This prayer is not officially indulgenced through the Church. It is a wonderful prayer to bring into your family prayer routine throughout the month of November, which is dedicated to the Holy Souls in Purgatory.
