Behind the Inspiration
Centuries before Joan's birth, a prophecy attributed to Merlin was made, foretelling that France would one day be saved by "by a virgin from the oak forests of Lorraine." Oak is well known and prized for its incredible strength, reminding us of Joan's fortitude and persistence, even in the midst of great trials. And lavender, which calls to mind the fields of France, symbolizes grace, purity, devotion, and silence.
St. Joan of Arc is the patron of soldiers and France. Her feast day is May 30.
